11-21-04 - I've been making desktop images for my computer
as a photoshop exercise. They each have a calendar, so I make one every month.
Click on the image to blow it up in a new window, then for Windows, right-click
then choose "Set as Wallpaper". For Mac... hell I don't know, ask
one of your Mac buddies to help you. I'll update every month, so check back.
Right now I only have 1024 x 768 resolution, because that's what use.

- The Frank mask was a success! I have been talking about
this mask since well before last Halloween, but never found the time to make
it. I started with the wire frame, which I modeled by looking at freeze frames
of the DVD of Donnie Darko. Then I wrapped plaster gauze (like the stuff they
use to make casts for broken bones) all over it. For a while I couldn't decide
what to do for the eyes, because in the movie they are so bulbous. Finally,
wandering around Goodwill I found a snowglobe that looked just right. I emptied
it, cut it in half and shaped it a bit. Then I set it in with glue gun. My
artist friend Jason Goldberg (www.mosney.net/mmm)
painted it for me. For teeth, I carved HDU (high density urethane) or "Sign-Foam"
and painted it. They were set in with glue.
Finally, I sewed a backing out of black cloth and glue-gunned it to the mask. For the suit, I just rented a black furry suit and sewed on a front piece to make it look a bit more rabbity. I'm very happy with it, but it's not as good as this guy's totally professional Frank mask.
10-24-04 -
I'm working on a halloween mask. It's of Frank from the movie
Donnie Darko. Frank is a 6-foot tall bunnie rabbit that talks to Donnie and
tells him when the world will end. So far I have the wireframe made, now I'm
looking for sunglasses to use for the eyes, then I'm going to plaster the
whole thing, paint it and airbrush highlights. I'll finish it off with a clear
coat of acrylic. I may even have to sew a bunny suit. I'll post pictures afterward.
10-24-07 - A bag made of plastic bags. That's exactly what
you are looking at. This particular bag consists of 31 individual plastic
shopping bags. It took about 1.5 hours to make, including folding all of the
bags. I got the idea from Readymade magazine, where in a fall issue they showed
how to make a purse/handbag. I made that too... post it later.
